ACQUITTAL OF THE PEOPLE SUED FOR THE EVENTS OF OCTOBER 12th 2013
Dear friends, we are being judged in November (15th, 22nd and 29th), and after nearly four years of punishment and uncertainty, which have led to an early conviction, we face the final phase of this case. We begin by thanking the support received up to now, and we ask you not to let it dry up until the trial.
It is a hard blow, after many years of struggle in many areas against discrimination, to end up being the accused ones. During all of this time, we were arrested for three days, one of us spent a month in jail, we had to go sign in the city of justice on a weekly or monthly basis, and we were forbidden to participate in political activities in the public space of Catalonia.
All this because of the accusation, on the part of the public prosecutor responsible for the hate crimes of Barcelona, of being responsible for the attack of a group of fascists on October 12th 2013.
The plaintiffs, 8 neo-nazis, known for their aggressions (including homicide attempts) and their advocacy for nazism, participated in the demonstration of the platform having broken out the event of the Generalitat of Madrid. The same who threatened with direct action and bloodshed the self-determination of Catalonia, or encouraged the persecution of the immigrants, while asking for “more knives in Melilla”. Despite of all this, the Catalan police publicly described them as “a group of young people drinking on the terrace of a bar, after attending a rally in the Montjuïc mountain.”
In a context of economic crisis, in which the working class mobilizes and fights for its rights, and in which it even calls into question the legitimacy of the political system, the State has launched more and more repressive measures with the aim of attacking any struggle for freedom and equality, and the activists involved. In this context, fascism is protected and supported by the institutions in order to use it as a tool of coercion, as a possible alternative to finish imposing a retreat of civil rights as well as personal and collective freedoms. That is why, while we are fighting against discrimination, austerity, police abuses, sexist repression, the destruction of the environment, or the rights of peoples, the anti-fascist struggle is a matter of all, and in which we recognize ourselves.
With this manifesto, we express our commitment to fight until the end to denounce:
-The permissiveness that allows the holding of rallies of fascist exaltation every October 12th, and the impunity with which the neo-nazis circulate quietly in Barcelona committing all kinds of verbal and physical aggressions.
-The accusation against the 6 comrades, with such a disproportionate sanction, despite the little evidences in the prosecutor’s writing, for alleged assaults.
– The attempt, by the Catalan public prosecutor responsible for hate crimes in Barcelona, to assimilate those who act with hatred towards differences, against the most vulnerable people, or against those that stand the most for change; with those who struggle for individual and collective freedoms, for justice, and therefore against fascism.
There will be over the next few months struggles for equality, for acquittal, against amalgam, but also against fascism. For this reason, in addition to joining this manifesto, we ask you to extend the solidarity throughout the territory, as well as to participate in the gatherings of denunciation of fascist exaltation on the next October 12th, and in the demonstration on November 11th, before the trial.

In the meantime, we take this opportunity to send warm greetings to all the activists who suffer repression, thanks for your example!
We will struggle and we will live free!
